Product In Use Photography
Product Photography Is a Critical Element to Demonstrating the Strength, Efficacy, and Quality of the PURELL® Brand
Product-focused photography can bring attention to either a single PURELL® product or a suite of products. Photography may show still products or shots with movement and interaction. Avoid staging that includes messy styling or cluttered propping. Products should be placed in a realistic manner that is consistent with their usage.
Product should always be well lit, with light pouring through it to communicate the purity of the PURELL® brand.
Do’s and Dont’s:
Do:
Include engaging activity in the background appropriate for the respective market and product. While the product is dominant, the background setting should reinforce human engagement.
Collect and review all product to be photographed. Confirm that labels are correct, placed on straight, and free from blemish and defect.
Include products in use, but this should never feel staged. Present the usage with a second person in frame to show human interaction.
The label of the product should always be full and clear in product photography.
Don’t:
Capture the product from an angle that shows Drug Facts Boxes or other non-equity elements like date or bar codes.
Shoot products in dark settings where the label is not identifiable or improperly exposed.
Frame the elements in such a way that the products are too close to the edge. Additional area is often needed in order to have proper bleed.
If a product is being shot in use, do not have the talent looking at the product in an unnatural way (e.g., smiling at foam in hand).
Photograph PURELL® hand sanitizer with unsupervised children (no adult present) under the age of 6 using the product.
Photograph PURELL® surface products with unsupervised children. An adult must be present and prominent in the photo, per EPA regulations. Children can be present in these photos, but they cannot be handling or using the product.
Product Proportions
When photographing or sizing images, it is important to ensure correct product proportions. Using the Product Height Chart below, reference the category and name below each silhouette to identify the correct dispensing system or delivery format.
